Post market- market end in red on weak global cues. Snap 5 day rally. BEML bagged order for supply of 1512 mine plough for T-90 tanks from MoD. Bajaj auto Q1 net profit fell by 53.1% YoY to Rs. 528 Cr. Alembic pharmaceuticals Q1 net profit jumped by 144% Yoy to Rs.301.5 Cr. Hatsun Agro Products jumped by 5.45% to Rs. 673, after company net profit rose by 9.6% to 56.1 Cr in Q1 june 2020.Hindustan copper fell by 2.39% to Rs. 36.80 after the company reported consolidated net loss of Rs. 514.55 Cr in Q1 june 2020. European markets were trading lower on july 22, as coronavirus concerns weigh on sentiment.

EPS (Earnings per Share)

Earnings per share is calculated as a company’s profit divided by the outstanding shares of its common stock. The higher a company’s EPS the more profitable it is considered.

EPS= Profit/ Number of outstanding shares

 

PE (Price to Earnings)

The price to earnings ratio is calculated share price divided by EPS. A high P/E ratio could mean that a company’s stock is overvalued or else that investors are expecting high growth rates in the future.

PCR (Put call ratio)

In finance the put call ratio is a technical indicator demonstrating investor’s sentiment. The ratio represents a proportion between all the put options and all the call options purchased on any given day. The put call ratio can be calculated for any individual stock, as well as for any index, or can be aggregated.

VIX(Volatility Index)

VIX is a trademark of Chicago Board Options Exchange, incorporated (CBOE) and Standard & Poor’s has granted a license to NSE, with permission from CBOE to use such mark in the name of the India VIX and for purposes relating to the India VIX. VIX is a real time market index representing the markets expectations for volatility over the coming 30 days.

 

Beta

Beta is a measure of a stocks volatility in relation to the overall market, if a stock moves less than the market, the stocks beta is less than 1. High beta stocks are supposed to be riskier but provide higher return potential; low beta stocks pose less risk but also lower returns.

 

VWAP(Volume weighted average price)

The volume weighted average price is a trading benchmark used by traders that gives the average price a security has traded at throughout the day, based on both volume and price. It is important because it provide traders with insight into both the trend and value of a security.

 

Face value

For stocks, the face value is the original cost of the stock, as listed on the certificate. For bonds, it is the amount paid to the holder at maturity, which is customarily. The face value for bonds is often referred to as par value or simply par.

 

Book value

Book value is the total amount of company’s physical assets (excluding patents, goodwill) minus liabilities. So in absolute terms, book value is the net assets of the company. Indian stock market the book value is per share value i.e. total book value divided by the number of shares.

 

Dividend

A stock dividend is a dividend payment made in the form of additional shares rather than a cash payout. Companies may decide to distribute this type of dividend to shareholders of record if the company’s availability of liquid cash is in short supply.

 

Dividend yield

The dividend yield or dividend price ratio of a share is the dividend per share, divided by the price per share. It is also a company’s total annual dividend payments divided by its market capitalization, assuming the number of shares is constant. It is often expressed as a percentage.

Dividend yield= Dividend per share/Share price

 

DII(Domestic Institutional Investors)

DII refers to the Indian institutional investors who are investing in the financial markets of India (stock market for example)

 

FII(Foreign Institutional Investors)

FII refers to investors that are from other countries and that are investing in the Indian financial market.

 

SGX Nifty

SGX nifty is a indian Nifty nse india future index listed in Singapore market. It trades for 16 hours a day 6.30 am to 11.30 pm.
